We regret to inform you that Filipino Advocates for Justice’s 50th Anniversary Event has sold out, but we are excited to celebrate this golden milestone and lift-up 50 years of service, love and justice with those who acquired tickets! The energy surrounding our first in-person celebration since the pandemic is palpable as we gather with friends, family and kasamas on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the ZNE Center in San Leandro.
The program will highlight FAJ’s past, present, and future work empowering the Filipino and greater immigrant community in the Bay Area since 1973. We honor the social justice and organizing work of FAJ Youth Organizers (Juniper Dorado, Zoe Dorado, and Alessandra Mohar), TN Rep. Justin Jones, Amado Uno, Josie Camacho, and Victor Uno. We gather to reconnect and reminisce during "mocktail hour" with small plates and appetizers by FAJ board member Chef Dominic Ainza, Filipino-flavor inspired mocktails by Otra Ronda (beer/wine sold separately), and desserts by Marley's Treats. No sit-down dinner will be served and seating will be limited so please let us know of any accessibility needs. The evening will be narrated by Dr. Allyson Tintiangco-Cubales, with a jazz set by Ben Luis Band, words from Hayward City Council Member George Syrop, closing remarks from Attorney General Rob Bonta, and a fashion performance from Fashion by ChiChai and FAJ Youth Interns. Come enjoy, snap pics at the Say Ya! Photo Booth and the FAJ Visual Timeline Panels, and dance to the musical stylings of DJ Poison!
